What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. It is how a site remembers something between one page and the next — that you dismissed a notice, say, or that you have already been counted as a visitor today.
Some cookies come from the site you are on. Others come from companies whose code runs on it, such as an analytics tool or an advertising network. Those are the ones worth paying attention to, because they can follow you across sites.
How this site uses them
Very little of YourWishZone needs cookies at all. Every article is a plain page: you can read the entire site with cookies blocked and lose nothing.
The table below is not a general description of what sites like this might do — it is generated from this site’s own configuration and lists what is switched on today. When something changes, the table changes with it.
What we never do with them
- We do not use cookies to identify you personally.
- We do not sell what they record.
- We do not use them to follow you around other websites for our own purposes.
Advertising cookies, when advertising is running, are a genuine exception to the spirit of that last one — the networks that serve adverts do build interest profiles. That is disclosed plainly in the Advertising section of our Privacy Policy, along with every way to opt out.
Refusing them
Every browser can block or delete cookies, per site or entirely, and blocking them will not break this site. Where the law requires consent — in the UK, the EU and California — a banner appears before any non-essential cookie is set, and you can reopen it at any time to change your mind.
